Electroplating & Metal Finishing Services

Silver Plating

Silver is a highly conductive, reflective, and ductile precious metal with numerous functional applications. It is commonly used to prevent galling or seizing of metal surfaces under high loads, making it ideal for bearings and compressor blades. In the electrical and electronic industries, silver’s outstanding conductivity ensures optimal performance. We specialize in silver plating for a range of components, from delicate microswitch contacts to large 250kg castings, including intricate masking operations.

Electroless Nickel Plating

Unlike traditional electroplating, electroless nickel plating ensures an even coating across the entire surface, providing superior corrosion resistance, hardness, and lubricity. This process is widely used across the automotive, chemical, aerospace, electronics, and nuclear industries due to its excellent durability and chemical resistance.

Nickel Plating

Nickel is a strong and fairly hard metal with magnetic properties, making it an ideal choice for both decorative and functional applications. Bright nickel plating enhances corrosion resistance and provides a highly reflective, polished finish. It is also commonly used as an undercoat for silver and gold plating in decorative applications.

Tin Plating

Tin plating produces bright, ductile coatings with excellent corrosion and tarnish resistance. It is non-toxic, easily soldered, and widely used in electronics, printed circuits, household appliances, and the food industry. Our tin plating process delivers a super-bright, durable finish for electro-technical components.

Zinc Plating

Zinc plating is an economical and effective method for providing a decorative and sacrificial protective coating against atmospheric corrosion on iron and steel components. Common applications include threaded components, pressings, and sheet metal parts in industries such as automotive manufacturing and construction.

Copper Plating

Copper is a highly conductive metal often used for both industrial and decorative purposes. It serves as an excellent undercoat for other metals and is frequently used in case hardening processes. Our copper plating produces a bright, smooth, and ductile deposit with exceptional covering power.

Additional Surface Treatments & Cleaning Services

In addition to electroplating, Hastings Metal Finishers offer a range of complementary surface treatments and cleaning processes to enhance and prepare metal components:

Vapour Degreasing

Vapour degreasing effectively removes oils, grease, and contaminants from machined and pressed components. It is often used as a preliminary cleaning step before electroplating but is also available as a standalone service.

Bright Acid Dipping

This process enhances the appearance of copper and its alloys by producing a bright, shiny finish. It is commonly used as a pre-plating treatment but can also serve as a cleaning method for aesthetic improvement.

Acid Pickling

Steel components are immersed in acid to remove rust and corrosion, ensuring a clean surface. After pickling, parts can be oiled to prevent future oxidation.

Vibratory Polishing

Our vibratory polishing system uses ceramic media and detergent to achieve a highly polished, smooth finish on small components, enhancing both function and aesthetics.
